Description:
ZCCM Investments Holdings Plc (ZCCM-IH) in partnership with Mining Mineral Resources (MMR) intends to construct a dam on Musonweji River in Kikonge, Mufumbwe District. The main purpose of the dam is to supply water to the gold processing plant that will be set up at the mining site. The dam will comprise of an earth embankment with a natural service spillway on the left abutments and an emergency spillway. The zoned earth embankment will hold approximately 2,010,951 m³ of water at full supply level. The wall will be built across a natural valley. The outflow spillway on the flank with a natural spillway in the direction of flow. The partnership is required to conduct public consultations as part of the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) process, inviting stakeholders to participate in public scoping meetings.
