- The Nexus Energy Water Program for Zambia (NEWZA) project aims to strengthen the link between the energy and water sectors. The project is supported by the European Union (EU) and the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) of the Federal Republic of Germany is co-financed via KfW. The NEWZA program also includes ongoing projects co-financed by the German Federal Government, namely: • “Urban water supply and Wastewater disposal in the Eastern Province, Phase IV” (BMZ No.: 2016 67 328/2018 67 514/2018 70 104) and •Management of water resources and wastewater disposal for medium-sized cities (BMZ No.: 2020 67 494, 2022 70 023). NEWZA's goal is to provide access to green energy and water supply for all by improving the performance of five Zambian water utilities: Southern (Lot 1), Chambeshi (Lot 2), Lukanga (Lot 3), Nkana (Lot 4) and Eastern (Lot 5). The works are awarded on the basis of the FIDIC Contract for Facilities and Design-Build Contracts, 1st Edition 1999 (Yellow Book). The scope of work for all commercial utilities is listed below.
